Standing On A Chair

Telling it like I see it…

Author Biography

Jill Hessey MillerI sprung into this life in Anchorage, Alaska in 1948.  I came of age in 1969 in Newark, New Jersey.

Having been raised all over the place by an Air Force officer father (yes SIR, Daddy…no SIR, Daddy) and a Southern Belle mother with a permanent case of the vapors, I abandoned my obedient, good-girl rep and roared through the sexual and feminist revolutions, and the middle-to-upper-class drug culture, like a runaway train.

Along the way were two failed, short-term marriages, a plethora of failed, longer term relationships, an amazing daughter and a perfect grandson.

My accidental professions include flight attendant, executive assistant, head-hunter, human resources coordinator, sales rep, accounting supervisor and nail technician.

I read like a maniac (to this day The Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book ever), have been writing for 25 years, and am still working.  I’ve been lucky at times.  I’ve made good decisions at times.  And by God, at times I have fucked up beyond anybody’s wildest imagination.

So I have a few things to talk about.

  1. You can certainly see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
